When booking your charter make sure to try and book your stay allowing you time to explore our wonderful city and the island of Cape Ann. There is lots to see and do here! We are a historic seaport, Americas oldest working waterfront to be precise. Gloucester has several  fine and casual dining spots, shopping, and local galleries to explore. Just next door is Rockport with a quaint downtown setting full of shops and fun. History buffs can visit local museums to get a taste of days gone by. Art afficianados will be in there glory with the abundant offering of local galleries and artisan shops.  Below you will find links and suggestions to some of our favorite spots.

Places to stay:

The Lady J. recommends The Cape Ann Marina Resort, just a short ride from the boat. Located on the water it has been recently renovated and offers many ammenities including a spa, pool and hot tub, and The Mile Marker cafe opening in June.

Downtown:

Jalepeno's restaurant downtown serves the best authentic mexican food outside of Mexico itself, the atmosphere is fun and casual and the food and drinks are out of this world.  A local favorite you'll find it full most nights but the wait is never out of control, and you can always call ahead for reservations.

Latitude 43 is the local sushi bar and restaraunt, the interior decor is truly special, and offers outside dining as well.  Latitude is also a nightime hotspot.

Cape Ann Brewery offers local brews created on sight, although their menu is small it's a great place for a quick bite and a pint.

Passports on main street serves up local food with a global twist.  They also serve hard to find beer and wine from around globe.

Sugar Magnolia's is the go to spot for brunch on the weekends! Try their Portugese sweet bread french toast, or one of several eggs benedicts, they're sure not to dissapoint.

Midtown:

The Seaport Grille has a varried menu of seafood and American fare in a timber post and beam glass lined building, they also have plenty of outdoor seating on the veranda overlooking the working waterfront.  The Seaport Grille is located across from the infamous "Crows Nest" of The Perfect Storm book and movie.

Near the marina:

The Causway located just across from the resort is a well loved restaurant serving local caught seafood and other specialties, bring your appetite the dishes are huge, and your patience the line is often out the door.

Rocky Neck artist colony:

The Rudder is fine casual dining in a funky waterfront atmosphere parking is limited at Rocky Neck and the lot at the end of the road is a paying lot after a certain hour.

Madfish Grille offers a local taste of the island life, maybe more carribbean island life! Go for an evening cocktail and enjoy the deck and inner harbor view.

Places to go for a night out:

Most Gloucester restaurants offer a full liquor license, some have entertainment as well, they all offer an enjoyable night out. Those listed below have a lively atmosphere suitable for after dinner entertainment. Just be sure not to have to much fun if you will be fishing early in the morning!

Captain Carlo's is both a restaraunt and nightime hotspot, with a rotating list of guest bands and musicians there is always something going on, with a varied crowd you're sure to feel at home. Music is offered indoors and on the outdoor stage as well as drinks and dining.  Come ready to have a good time. 

The Rhumbline is a Gloucester institution, small and a bit rustic they have great music and pour a hell of a drink. Be careful you may have too much fun!
